The game was originally only played with 20 playing cards but by the time it reached Mississippi and then the game started to take form with things like the flush, the draw and straight being added to it, all in all making up the same poker game we can play today online or in casinos. By the 1970’s people were playing poker tournaments all over and inventing strategies on how to play the poker to gain an advantage over the other players. Basic Poker rules
Playing poker games online or in a real life game all follow the same basic rules. Poker is a game played with a deck of 52 playing cards, every game has a dealer and can have between 6 and 8 players per table. In tournaments of many players there will be a number of tables playing separate games until only the winners remain and join in one table. The dealer will deal out two cards to each player starting from the right hand side and proceed clock-wise. The players can check these cards but must keep what they have to themselves, if any other player sees the cards of his or her opponent then that player would have an unfair advantage and be able to make more informed poker decisions than the rest, this of course won’t ever be the case if you are playing poker from an online casino at home unless your opponents are sitting in the same room as you.
So the cards have been dealt now its time to place a bet, the way bets are placed in online poker for real money is by the dealer asking the first two players to his or her right to place a forced bet which is called the Ante or the Blind. This is usually the full amount for the first player and half the amount for the second, so it is known as big blind and small blind. The Ante sets the bar for what the rest of the players must bet if they choose to stay in the game. So once the first ante has been placed in poker online then the rest of the players can decide whether or not they want to remain in the game depending on their cards. So the bet goes around the table until all players involved have either called which means they have placed the same amount of real money as the big blind, folded which means they opted out without placing a bet because they didn’t believe they had strong enough cards or raised which is when they believe they have the power to win the round or they are bluffing to call the other poker players out.
The dealer can then deal out three cards in the centre of the table which is called the flop in poker terms. The ante will have moved around the players making the previous small blind the player who puts in the big blind this time and the next player to the right becomes the small blind. The players now get the chance to call, raise or fold once again only difference is they now have the knowledge of the three cards in the flop. This will go on in the game another two times, once when the dealer reveals the turn and the final time after the dealer shows the fifth and last card in the centre of the poker table. This is called the river, and can be make or break for some online or real life poker players who choose to bluff or risk their way through the real money poker game.
The person who has the best poker hand from the list of poker hands, each player will have 7 cards from which he or she will have to make the best combination of 5 cards possible. Some players will have an excellent hand and go on to win big money but others have nothing and bluff through it and still go on to win real money in these poker games. The best part of playing online poker for real money is that you can opt to play multiple games at one time or you can choose between fast paced games or long tedious tournaments where concentration is a must. For players who want to have a sort of career in poker playing then reading up on poker strategies and the likes is a must, being able to read people namely your poker opponents is also a huge plus when playing in real life although online poker removes this factor making it more about strategy and risk. Good luck and enjoy this super exciting online card game.
